Alone time in our house does not come easily. More rare, is time out without the kids with my husband. In fact, I’m not really sure of the last time we were gone for more than a couple of hours together for some quality time – until last night. Thanks to some free tickets that we won from a local radio station to a Third Day show and a couple of very generous friends who gave up their evening to spend time with our babies,  Brian and I had the entire evening to ourselves. (and a couple thousand other people!)

I have no idea why, but we always put our time alone –  last. We’re too busy. Work, kids schedules, shopping, errands, activities,  etc…. We never schedule time for “us”. It’s not good for our marriage or for our kids when we’re overworked and over tired. So, last night was just what we needed and it was perfect! Eight hours of just us.

The concert was an hour away from our home , so of course we had to stop for some BOGO Frappuccinos.  Perfect for a little pick-me-up since I was mainly running on fumes from only having 3.5 hours of sleep. (Btw…Mocha Cookie Crumble and Caramel Crunch Frapps = YUM! )

Once we found out where we going, we walked around town looking for someplace to eat and stumbled on one of the nicest restaurants we’ve been to – Station Two Twenty. It was a “Farm to Fork” restaurant where all of the ingredients are fresh from THEIR farm. Let me tell you….just the salad alone was worth going there for and it had to be the BEST salad I’ve ever had. Home baked bread with freshly whipped butter and Beef Kebabs with garden fresh veggies were also to die for! It was totally worth it to miss the first act to be able to sit down to a delicious meal with my husband and to eat at a leisurely pace. I cannot wait to go back and enjoy one of their entrees. Every ingredient was unique and as fresh as you can get. Definitely worth checking out if you’re in the Bloomington area anytime soon.

After dinner, we headed to the concert and Third Day was awesome! The venue wasn’t huge – so there wasn’t a bad seat in the house. We danced and sang and just had an amazing time together while being filled with the Holy Spirit. It was just what we needed to recharge ourselves.

We need to take more timeouts for us – I don’t know about you, but we don’t do it enough. I’m already looking forward to the next time we can get away for a while and it can’t come soon enough! Who’s up for babysitting?

When was the last time you and your spouse had some time away? Is it something you make time for on a regular basis or do you take it as you can get it?
