Since this recipe uses a cake mix, you can easily change up the flavoring of the cake mix that you’re using to change up the taste and flavor. Try chocolate, lemon, strawberry, or really any other type of boxed cake mix flavor to see how easy and different you can make the flavors.

If you want to add in a little bit of moistness, you can also add a dollop of Greek yogurt and mix as well. Don’t overdo it, a little bit goes a long way.

Leave off the frosting and make these sugar cookie bars without frosting. Instead of frosting, you can use powdered sugar or nothing at all.

Sugar Cookie Bars Without Cream Cheese FAQS

You’re going to want to bake them for about 30-35 minutes. You should then start to notice that they’re turning a golden brown and are ready to be removed from the oven.

The good news is that these cookie bars are easy to freeze. Just cut them into bars, add them to a freezer-safe bag or container and place them in your freezer for later. It’s really as simple as that.

Anything you want! Drizzle melted chocolate, add some shredded coconut, various sprinkles of different shapes and colors are all great choices.

I like to melt chocolate chips and drizzle those across the top, too. Whatever you want to do is delicious and totally worth it.

Don’t forget to use homemade buttercream frosting. Changing up the frosting flavor changes up the taste every single time.
