Although this post is sponsored by Welch’s® Frozen Fruits, all opinions are my own.
We love a good dessert in our household. I’m pretty sure it was my mom’s love of all things sweet that gave me my sweet tooth! Being from West Virginia, meals weren’t complete without a dessert to top it off!
From simple chocolate chip cookies to homemade bread puddings and layered chocolate cakes, dessert was a staple in our home. As much as I want a dessert after every meal, my waist does not. Ha! BUT when I can whip up something light and good for you at the same time that satisfies my sweet tooth, I’m all in! One of my favorite desserts is this simple Pound Cake with Fruit and Whipped Cream.
Oh yum! This is much easier to make than it looks! I didn’t spend hours baking a pound cake (although you could make my Cream Cheese Pound Cake if you want!), cutting up fruit and whipping up whipped cream from scratch. Nope! I bought everything at the store and just assembled it after dinner. And to make it even easier, I used Welch’s NEW Frozen Fruit Tropical Blend for my fruit layer, pound cake from the bakery at the grocery store and whipped cream from the frozen section. That’s it!
Did you know that using frozen fruit is really a good idea because it’s always the freshest! You will always get a ripe fresh taste that is very affordable and adding fruit into your family’s meals is very healthy which is very important to me – and I bet to you, too! Welch’s Frozen Fruits comes in several varieties such as Blueberry Fusion, Tropical Blend and Antioxidant Blend. Frozen fruit can be used in about anyway you can think – smoothies, muffins, on top of cheeses, in casseroles and more! Frozen fruit goes beyond morning smoothies for sure!
I love that I can count on fresh fruit any time of the year when I need it! I just head to my frozen food section at the store and pick up whatever I need! And Welch’s Frozen Fruit is always my go-to because I know I’m getting the very best quality available.
To make this dessert, set out your fruit while you’re preparing dinner so that it thaws out. Then when dinner is done, just add slices of pound cake to a plate, top with fruit and whipped cream. That’s it! You can’t get much easier than that!
I don’t feel so guilty having a “healthier” dessert like this Pound Cake with Fruit and Whipped Cream after dinner every once in a while. The fruit is good for you and I know that it’s the freshest it can be! That is a good thing in this mom’s book!
I found Welch’s Fruit Blends at Meijer for a great price! AND right now they have a coupon for an even better deal for $1.00 off on Welch’s Fruit from October 1st, 2016-November 30th, 2016. So now’s the perfect time to try it out or stock up!
Tell me …What’s your favorite way to have Welch’s Frozen Fruits? Do you think you’ll add them into a favorite recipe, eat by itself in a bowl or top your favorite dessert? I’d love to hear! Share with me in the comments below!
For a box cake, can you add butter milk instead of whole milk to replace the amt of water needed? If I use buttermilk, how much oil should i use? Can I also use melted butter instead of oil, along with using the buttermilk?
YES! I think buttermilk is a good idea!! Melted butter is good, too. Not sure of the measurements. Maybe google it?
