We’re a close family. We do things together. We actually do more things together as a family than apart. It’s  really important to us to spend quality time together whether we’re hanging out at home, shopping for household essentials or just  playing at the park. My husband and I have always done life this way – even before kids and it’s even more important now that we have 3 little ones.

Barilla - share the table

One of the ways that we make a constant effort each day to be together is at meal time. Having dinner together each day is a great way to connect and have family time. We pray together, talk about our day and things to come. It’s important to us. I hear from so many families that they just don’t have time to sit down together – but we make time whenever possible. Although many families may make time to eat together, mealtime is more disjointed than ever. Most people say dinner is the most important way to connect the family. Yet one in four families say they feel like disconnected individuals living under one roof. This is something I hope never happens to us – but I think it’s something you definitely have to work at to make sure it doesn’t happen.

Families are all so uniquely different, and yet we all experience the common need for shared mealtime and greater connection. Meaningful meals together can bring positive change to families. Both parents and kids alike experience overall life satisfaction and increased emotional benefits when they share the table together. After all, food is love – would’t you agree?
