Packing up your home and moving is a big job!  And if you do it TWICE in one year like I did, it’s even bigger.  That’s right – our family moved two times in 3 months to be exact. Crazy?  Slightly.  But, that’s how it all worked out when we sold our home, our new home sale fell through, we moved into a rental and found a new house quickly – so, we moved again!  Thankfully we weren’t in the rental for too long and were able to get settled, but my…what a big job that was!  With moving two times that quickly, I picked up a few hacks that are sure to help you, too!

5 Moving Hacks to Make Life Easier!

 

To get the job done right and efficiently, here’s my favorite tips to help make your transition smooth!

1.Clean. Even though you’re moving into a new house, take time to clean it from top to bottom BEFORE moving in. Even if you have to delay your move a day or so to do it, it’s totally worth it.  You have no idea what’s been cleaned and if you’re like me, you’ll want to make sure your bathrooms, kitchen and floors are ready for your new things!

2.Pack a last in box.  Once you get to your new home, you’re going to have to make sure you have a few items on hand to get your through the first couple of days until you’re all unpacked.  A couple of changes of clothes, toiletries, medicines, dish soap, and even paper plates will come in handy!

 

3.Wash towels & linens.  Do a few loads of laundry and get your towels, sheets and linens ready to be used. Having them in boxes will keep them clean, but they most likely will be dusty. I like to make sure everything is fresh and ready to go!

4.Spray. After you have cleaned, try going from room to room and spray with an odor killing spray to get rid of any lingering odors that may still be in the air from the previous owners. This will ensure your home is fresh and ready for your family, too!

5.Wash windows and doors. Get your view from the inside to the outside sparkling clean!  Use a simple window cleaner like my Alcohol Free Window Cleaner on all your windows, doors and even your mirrors!  They’ll look great!

By picking up a few cleaning products at Walmart, you will be ready to go when you move into your new home!  Bounty, Tide, Swiffer, UnStoppables and Charmin are a few of my favorites!
